Everything But The Work

A compendium of pap that was drawn, photogrpahed & blended in China.

From January to June 2011, Christopher Holloran (UK) & Andrea Zavala Folache (ES) lived and worked in China. They made artworks and performances in a number of galleries but this book contains everything but the work. In between their 'real' work, they made notes, doodles, scenarios and photographs that were never meant to be seen as such. Together, they had around 1000 drawings and documents over the months they were in China and so they decided to smush everything together like a dense brain smoothie revealing a peculiar insight into their psyches.
Like a burp or sneeze that you can't help but let out, the result of this book was an unconscious, unfiltered, unpremeditated stream of honesty and spontaneity neatly compiled into one comprehensive compendium.

The full colour 312 page book is available to buy for €20 from the online shop (coming soon, in the meantime - email me).

Finding Reality in Hyperreality

Graduation Thesis - Gerrit Rietveld Academie 2012

In this thesis, I will test the relationship between reality and hyperreality by exploring specific prototypical instances that flaunt this relationship. I plan to scrutinise the most permeable interactions practically, philosophically and scientifically to see ift here truly is a reality amongst the deviating pomp of the hyper and if the real object is equal only to itself in a mirror.

Hard copy - €14 (email me or available to buy at the Public Rietvled Shop or on loan from the Rietvled library, Amsterdam)
